Remove the roofing included in the approved scope down to the deck so concealed conditions can be inspected instead of buried under another layer.

Exposed sheathing is checked during tear-off. Damaged, deteriorated or unsuitable decking is repaired or replaced as needed; quantity follows field conditions and the approved scope.
03Ice & water protectionSelf-adhered protection at vulnerable areas.
Membrane is placed where the design, code and manufacturer instructions call for it, including applicable valleys, eaves, penetrations, transitions and other vulnerable locations. An Owens Corning system may use WeatherLock® or another package-compatible specified membrane.
04Synthetic underlaymentA secondary water-shedding layer over the deck.
RID-ICK uses synthetic underlayment as the replacement baseline. Depending on the selected package and warranty path, that can include ProArmor®, DeckDefense®, RhinoRoof®, Titanium® or another approved compatible product.
05Flashing + metalWater has to be directed out—not merely sealed around.
Drip edge plus apron, step/counter and other flashing details are repaired or replaced as condition and approved scope require. Compromised flashing is not intentionally buried under a new roof.
06Starter stripA purpose-built starting edge.
A compatible starter is installed where required at eaves and rakes. Owens Corning starter products have specific compatibility limits, so Woodcrest®, Woodmoor® and other specialty systems receive the starter required for that product—not a one-size-fits-all substitute.
07Field shingles + fastenersThe selected shingle gets its actual nailing specification.
Fastener type, count, location and pattern follow the selected shingle, roof application and written installation instructions. RID-ICK does not assume one generic nail pattern for every product.
08Balanced ventilationRidge vent when the roof and intake support it.
Owens Corning’s guidance treats intake and exhaust as a balanced system. RID-ICK typically prefers ridge exhaust when roof geometry and intake allow it; another ventilation method is used when the structure requires it.
09Hip & ridgeFinish the roof with a compatible cap.
Hip/ridge is selected for the shingle, profile and package. Depending on the system, that can include ProEdge®, DuraRidge®, DecoRidge® or ImpactRidge® where appropriate and available.
10Penetrations + accessoriesSmall details cause expensive callbacks when ignored.
Compatible plumbing vent boots/flashing and other roof accessories are installed or replaced as scope requires. NP 1 polyurethane sealant is used only at compatible detail locations as a secondary weather seal—not as a substitute for proper flashing. On Duration-tier and higher packages, compatible plumbing vent pipes receive a Perma-Boot® over the correctly integrated primary boot/flashing.

WHY ROOF PRICES CAN BE THOUSANDS APART
Compare the roof being built—not just the number at the bottom.
A lower quote can be completely legitimate. It can also represent fewer materials, reused details, a different ventilation plan, less decking allowance, or responsibilities that move to the homeowner later. The cleanest comparison is line by line.
RID-ICK replacement roofs are torn off to the deck. Ask whether the competing bid removes every existing layer or allows roofing over what is already there.
RID-ICK includes the first 3 damaged 4×8 sheets, then charges $100 per additional sheet installed for material + labor. Ask whether the competing bid gives you that unit rate in writing before tear-off.
Compare the actual synthetic underlayment and ice/water products and where they are installed. “Underlayment included” does not describe the same assembly.
RID-ICK replaces flashing, installs new rake drip edge and gutter apron at eaves. Ask whether old metal is being reused or omitted.
Compare valley water protection, open-metal valley options, pipe boots, chimney details, skylights and every penetration—not only the field shingles.
Exhaust and intake should work together. Ask whether ridge vent is simply being added or the attic ventilation is actually being reviewed and corrected.
Starter, hip/ridge, shingles, underlayment and ventilation all matter. Compare the exact products by name rather than assuming every roof using the same shingle brand is equivalent.
RID-ICK protects the property before tear-off, cleans throughout the install, performs repeated magnetic nail/debris sweeps, then completes final cleanup, haul-off and lawful disposal.
RID-ICK pays for and handles required roofing permits and inspections through the jurisdictional process. The homeowner only needs to participate where the jurisdiction requires an owner signature, authorization, presence or other owner-only action.
Manufacturer material coverage and contractor workmanship coverage are different. RID-ICK registers the applicable Owens Corning warranty and provides its own workmanship coverage separately.
Decking, structural repair, chimney crickets, intake ventilation and other concealed conditions should have written allowances or unit pricing before the crew opens the roof.
RID-ICK keeps inspection photos, tear-off/decking and hidden-condition photos, and completion photos in the customer portal so the homeowner can see the project record before, during and after installation.
If one quote is $5,000 and another is $15,000, first make sure they are quoting the same roof. Different totals do not automatically mean one contractor is overpriced or the other is cutting corners. Different scopes, materials, warranties and responsibilities can create very different numbers.
GEORGIA CODE + THE RID-ICK STANDARD

Georgia’s current State Minimum Standard One- and Two-Family Dwelling Code uses the 2024 International Residential Code with Georgia Amendments, effective January 1, 2026. Local permitting, inspection and administrative requirements can still vary by jurisdiction, so the final approved scope follows the state code and local requirements that apply at the property.

The tear-off lets us inspect the sheathing, replace damaged decking to the approved scope and replace/re-integrate roof flashing rather than hiding old details under a new shingle. The first 3 damaged 4×8 sheets are included; additional sheets are $100 each installed for material + labor.
New drip edge is installed on rakes, gutter apron on eaves, valleys receive self-adhered water protection, and chimney/penetration details are rebuilt to the verified scope.
Existing box-vent exhaust is converted to Owens Corning ridge ventilation when the roof allows it. Intake is checked too; required intake upgrades or alternative exhaust are scoped when the house needs them.
Fasteners, underlayment, shingles, ridge components and ventilation are installed to the applicable Owens Corning instructions in addition to the Georgia/local requirements that govern the job.
Chimney crickets, structural repairs, additional decking and other concealed conditions are photographed, shown in the customer portal and priced instead of being buried in a vague “code upgrade” line.
RID-ICK handles the permit process.When a roofing permit or inspection is required, RID-ICK pays for it and handles the jurisdictional process. Some jurisdictions may still require the property owner to sign, authorize, be present or complete an owner-only step; when that happens, we coordinate it with you.

WARRANTY WITHOUT THE HEADLINE GAME

For eligible single-family installations, Owens Corning’s current Standard Product Limited Warranty is a Limited Lifetime manufacturer warranty, with the written warranty defining the protection period, covered components, exclusions and eligibility. RID-ICK registers the applicable manufacturer warranty for the homeowner and separately provides a 10-year workmanship warranty on full roof replacements.

Call directly and tell us there is active water intrusion so the leak can be treated as the immediate problem.
Do I need to file an insurance claim before the inspection?
No. The roof condition can be assessed and documented first. Whether to file a claim is a separate decision between you and your insurer.
How do I choose the shingle and color?
Start with the performance path and a short color list. Digital tools help narrow the options; current physical samples and supplier availability should confirm the final order.
What warranty will I get?
RID-ICK registers the applicable Owens Corning manufacturer warranty for you and sends the documentation electronically.
